Join us for a morning of fun on the Sharpstown Trail!
On Saturday, June 7, join Southwest Houston Redevelopment Authority/TIRZ 20, Harris County Precinct 4, Houston Parks Board, and Southwest Management District from 10 AM to 12 PM for a ribbon-cutting to celebrate completion of construction on the first phase of the Sharpstown Trail.
The event will take place on the front lawn of Iglesia Elohim (8600 S Gessner Dr., Houston, TX 77036), next to the CenterPoint Energy easement where the trail is located. The event will include:
- 10:30 AM: Speaking program followed by a ribbon cutting
- 11:10 AM: Inaugural walk and bike ride led by Fit Houston and BikeHouston (all ages welcome)
- 11:30 AM: Story time led by the Walker Neighborhood Library (HPL)
- Free food and refreshments
- Free bicycle valet parking provided by BikeHouston
- Tunes to keep the morning grooving provided by DJ Texas Outlaw
- Free swag and goodies from community booths
We will also be celebrating National Trails Day®, your chance to get outdoors, connect with your community, and give back to the trails you love. Learn more about National Trails Day on the American Hiking Society website here.
Plan to bring your hat, sunscreen, and appropriate footwear (the event will take place in the grass). Please RSVP below to let us know you’re attending!
Event attendees are encouraged to cycle or walk to the event using the Sharpstown Trail. As mentioned above, free bicycle valet parking provided by BikeHouston will be available where your bicycle will be kept safe and monitored at the event.

Project Information
The new 1.8-mile trail connects Sands Point Drive to Beechnut Drive through the CenterPoint Energy easement, giving Sharpstown residents increased access to trails and greenspace. The event will also highlight the future construction of Phase Two of the Sharpstown Trail, which will connect Phase One south to Brays Bayou Greenway.
