Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) is pleased to announce that Club Creek Park & Houston Vietnam Veterans Memorial has been selected as a winner in the On-the-Ground Project Over $500,000 category of the 2025 H-GAC Parks and Natural Areas Awards Program.
H-GAC established the Parks and Natural Areas Awards in 2006 to highlight best practices and innovative approaches to parks planning and implementation. Over the years, the program has recognized more than 300 projects across the H-GAC region. H-GAC honors projects in the categories of Projects Over $500,000, Projects Under $500,000, Planning Process/Policy Tools, and Programming.
“This recognition reflects our commitment to creating meaningful public spaces that honor history, serve our community, and enhance quality of life in Southwest Houston,” said Welcome Wilson, TIRZ 20’s Board Chair. “Club Creek Park and the Houston Vietnam Veterans Memorial stand as a testament to the power of collaboration and thoughtful investment in public infrastructure.”
The Club Creek Park & Houston Vietnam Veterans Memorial project is led by the TIRZ 20 Southwest Houston Redevelopment Authority, in collaboration with City Council Member Edward Pollard, Harris County Flood Control District, and the City of Houston Parks and Recreation Department. The project provides a thoughtfully designed public space that honors veterans while offering residents a place for reflection, recreation, and community gathering.
Projects recognized by this awards program are selected by a panel of expert judges and industry professionals.
TIRZ 20 and fellow award recipients were formally honored during an awards celebration held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at the Houston-Galveston Area Council offices, located at 3555 Timmons Lane.
