Led by Houston City Council Member Edward Pollard, whose father served in the U.S. military in the Vietnam War, the ceremony showed how the outdoor memorial is becoming a public gathering place for remembering the hundreds of military personnel from the Houston area who died in the war.

The memorial was completed in 2023 at 9680 Club Creek Drive.

Southwest Houston Redevelopment Authority/TIRZ 20 funded the memorial with $1.31 million; another $100,000 came from Pollard’s district funds.

TIRZ Chairman Welcome Wilson Jr. was among the speakers at the March 29 ceremony.
